As before, the Walking into Communities Officers have ensured that, strict safety measures are in place including Walker and Leader Briefing Notes and a Covid-19 Risk Assessment, in addition to their regular risk assessments. They are happy to provide copies to anyone who wishes to see them. As these groups are structured, with Covid secure measures in place, and facilitated by the Local Authority, they do not need to adhere to the ‘rule of 6’ for social gatherings. They are welcoming new walkers to join their groups. They are all led by a trained, volunteer Walk Leader.
If you know, or work with anyone you think may benefit from joining one of their groups, please don’t hesitate to get in contact with Jess on 07816158889, who works part time, so if she misses your call, please leave her a message and she will get back to you, or please email on Jessica.Holmes@ne-derbyshire.gov.uk. Alternatively you can contact Debbie Saint, as they work on a job share basis – 07773201033 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
To avoid any confusion, they did previously facilitate these walks under the ‘Walking for Health Scheme’ with The Ramblers, but are no longer doing so. All walks will be insured and supported by North East Derbyshire District Council, and they will be hoping to expand their scheme in months to come!
